4 June

Jerusalem, Israel

At the time of this writing, we are not aware of any positive new moon sightings from Israel this evening (4 June 2019), even though the moon had an illumination of 2.11% and a lag of 69min. The photo at the top of this report was taken by myself from our observation point in Jerusalem this evening.

I will, of course, send out an update should any positive confirmations come in later. However, if no positive reports come in from tonight’s observation:

For those who began last month on May 6, 2019 in the evening, tonight is the end of the 29th day of the month and therefore tomorrow evening would be the beginning of the new month by default.

For those who began last month on May 7, 2019 in the evening, tonight is the end of the 28th day of the month, and therefore you would want to check and see whether the new moon will be sighted tomorrow evening.

For the sake of those who began last month on May 7, 2019 in the evening, we will go out and look again tomorrow evening for the moon.

On behalf of all of us who rely on these reports, we wish to thank everyone in Israel who looked for the new moon this evening!

Regardless of which day you will be starting the month, make sure to make it a great one!

2nd New Moon Sighted 2019

7 May 2019

Shalom Aleichem,

The second new moon was visible in Australia and the United States on 6 May. Here in eastern Australia, there was no sighting due to weather. Israel didn’t report the new moon being visible on 6 May so 7 May was the new moon as the 30th day since the last new moon.

7 May

Jerusalem, Israel

At the time of this writing, we are not aware of any positive new moon sightings from Israel this evening, even though the moon should have been easily visible (Ill 3.44% Lag 94 min) were it not for the heavy cloud and dust coverage on the horizon throughout the country.

I will, of course, send out an update should any positive confirmations come in later. However, if no positive reports come in from tonight’s observation:

For those who began this last month on April 6, 2019 in the evening, based on the one witness we had, then this evening May 6, 2019 is the end of the 30thday of the previous month and therefore the beginning of the new month by default.

For those who decided to disregard the one witness we had and began last month on April 7, 2019 in the evening, then this evening May 6, 2019 is the end of the 29th day of the previous month and so you would presumably begin the new month tomorrow May 7, 2019 in the evening. Interestingly, but not necessarily a problem, in doing so you will in all likelihood have a 28-day month, as the next new moon is expected to be visible on June 4, 2019 (Ill 2.11% Lag 69 min).

On behalf of all of us who rely on these reports, we wish to thank everyone in Israel who looked for the new moon this evening and sent in their observations in a timely manner.

Regardless of which day you will be starting the month, make it a great one!

Chodesh Tov!

Aviv New Moon and Barley 2019

6 April 2019

Shalom Aleichem,

The new moon was reported by one faithful observer in Israel. Appeared that there was significant cloud cover in some areas of Israel. Additionally, barley in the Aviv and riper stages have been observed in Israel.

Here in Australia the new moon wasn’t sighted even though it was marginally probable with perfect conditions. The sky was clear but their was a heavy haze in the bottom 10% of the sky along the horizon.

There was considerable cloudiness in the West after sundown, but at about 8:00 EDT the clouds moved to where the moon was visible and at about 8:15 it was unobscured and beautiful. There is a bit of earthshine on the darkened part of the moon visible in the picture. JMG (2 observers)

I first checked the western horizon around 7:40 PM (AZ Standard Time. Note: daylight savings time is not utilized in AZ; therefore, AZ time is essentially the same as Pacific Time during this time of year). I thought I was too late to look for the moon; the sky was very dark and a low cloud bank was on the western horizon. Fortunately, I examined the western skies again at almost 8:00 PM, and there was a very narrow opening between the western skyline and the base of the cloud bank. Behold, the new moon was visible for 5 to 10 minutes, as a very narrow crescent. The moon was easy to discern with the naked eye, and the crescent was fully set at 8:03 PM. KR (1 observer)

Aviv New Moon Watch 2019

17 March 2019

Shalom Aleichem,

The Aviv new moon is expected to be visible 6 April in most locations. Aviv barley is also expected as the current states were head emergence to flowering. This will easily reach the parchable stage by mid-April.

Share your new moon sighting.

J. Adam Meyer

13th New Moon Sighted 2019

15 March 2019

Shalom Aleichem,

The last reports were delayed as I was travelling. That said I was unable to see the new moon due to heavy cloud cover and rain in San Francisco.

Aviv

Depending on who you ask there were a couple of different thoughts on Aviv. My take on it is that the barley was in Aviv only in small samples, but the head emergence to flowering stages was the most common. Israel has been experiencing rain which has delayed the maturity of the crops. Will head emergence to flowering stages be parchable in two weeks, it seems unlikely. For these reasons, I believe that YHWH is guiding me to April for Aviv.

No moon sighted. Clear sky except for where the new moon should be. Plane trails in a checkerboard covering that view of the sky. Based upon reports from Israel and https://www.abibofgod.com/abib-reports-2019 our family will be observing the Spring Holy Days this month. Happy New Year and a blessed time to Yahweh’s children during the spring appointed times. Yahweh bless, in Yah’shua’s name. DS

8 March

This would have been the automatic date for most locations as the new moon was not visible in most locations on the 7th of March. Exceptions for Costa Rica, Canada, and United States where sightings were reported on the 7th of March.
