And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their host.

And Elohim finished on the seventh day his work which he did, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he did.

And Elohim blessed the seventh day and he sanctified it, because on it he rested from all his work which Elohim created to do.

These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that יהוה Elohim made earth and heavens.

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it sprouted, for יהוה Elohim had not caused rain upon the earth, and there was no man to work the ground.

And a mist went up from the earth and watered all the surface of the ground.

And יהוה Elohim formed the man, dust from the ground, and he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

And יהוה Elohim planted a garden in Eden, eastward, and he placed there the man whom he formed.

And יהוה Elohim caused to sprout from the ground every tree desirable to the sight and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it divided and became four heads.

The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one that encircles all the land of Havilah, where there is gold.

And the gold of that land is good; there is bdellium and onyx stone.

And the name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one that encircles all the land of Cush.

And the name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one that flows east of Assyria, and the fourth river, it is the Euphrates.

And יהוה Elohim took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and to keep it.

And יהוה Elohim commanded the man, saying, 'From every tree of the garden you may eat, eat.'

But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat from it, for on the day you eat from it, you shall surely die.'

And יהוה Elohim said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make for him a helper corresponding to him.'

And יהוה Elohim formed from the ground every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them, and whatever the man called each living being, that was its name.

And the man gave names to all the livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field, but for the man, he did not find a helper corresponding to him.

And יהוה Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs and closed up flesh in its place.

And יהוה Elohim built the rib that he took from the man into a woman, and he brought her to the man.

And the man said, 'This time, bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman because from man she was taken.'

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cling to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and they were not ashamed.
