The new moon was reported visible on 20 April in the western US, but it was not visible in Israel. On 21 April, the new moon was visible in Jerusalem Israel.

It was a tough sighting here in west-central New Mexico tonight, but we got it. We saw the thin, dim new moon up around 6 degrees around 26 minutes after the local astronomical sunset. Not bad for a 0.9% illuminated crescent! It probably couldn’t have been seen much east of here. Have a great 2nd month. D&EM (2 observers)
