My calculations suggested a very slight possibility of seeing the new moon crescent early tonight, so I decided to try. It was modeled to be up only about 2 degrees at sighting time 17 minutes after sunset, but with a reasonable 2.1% illumination and 16.5 degrees elongation to the sun. I used my technique to figure just where it was to set, but there were clouds there to the west. The results was no sighting.
It should be a nice 8 degrees up and bright tomorrow night. DM (0 observers)
