Today, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the New Moon was first spotted with the naked eye at 7:52 pm (Arizona time; same as California time), in the western sky (slightly north of west). The earliest (8:10 pm) attached cell phone photo shows a faint, but well-defined crescent. The later attached photo (8:29 pm), shows more contrast, but the crescent shape is blurred.
