Sunset was 8:45. We looked from about 9:00 p.m. to 9:30 and did not see the new crescent. There was some haze, but skies were mostly clear. RY

The renewed moon has been seen by two witnesses!
Therefore, the start of the 5th biblical month (Av) will begin at sunset today, Saturday, July 14, 2018.

With heavy cloud cover to the west, we were doubtful of being able to sight the crescent. However, beginning at 9:12 pm, the nice, clear crescent began to peek between the clouds and was visible for approximately 20 minutes. WI (5 observers)
