West-central New Mexico United States

Skies were crystal clear and the new moon was easily seen here in West-Central New Mexico on the 3rd of January, 2022 It was high and bright to the south-west and seen only 15 minutes after local sunset. DM (2 observers)

Snowflake Arizona United States

Spotted New Moon at 5:52 PM (Mountain Standard Time). Moon was below the horizon at about 6:23 PM. The attached photo was taken with cell phone at 6:21 PM, as the moon was almost touching the horizon. KR (1 observer)

Beautiful sunset with rain off to the west lower in the sky. The new moon was not expected to be visible on 3 January in Australia, in fact, the estimate was for the moon to be to the right of the sunset just a few degrees. YM
