My new moon search began from sunset at 5:37pm and I caught sight of the new
moon in only four minutes after sunset and kept looking at it for four minutes
until 5:45pm. There was scattered clouds but was of no hindrance to my search as
I easily sighted it.

On Thursday October 30, 2008 observers across Israel looked for the moon but
it was not sighted. There were cloudy conditions throughout the Land, although
new moon visibility was uncertain even under ideal weather conditions. The new
moon should be easily visible from Israel tomorrow night (Friday Oct 31, 2008)
making Friday night the beginning of New Moon day.
